My first little adventure ride was around my town of Middle-of-Nowhere (actually, Hutchinson), Kansas. Most of my rides begin or end through Carey Park, which was flooded out in places because of the heavy rains we were getting this spring. I then headed north to the Rice County line and found a dirt road shaded by a canopy of trees that begged to be explored. Saw lots of horses, farms, wild turkey and encountered a pack of dogs. Only had to put my foot down once to avoid a spill (while escaping from the dogs). OK, it wasn't Moab or Baja, but I've got to start somewhere.
