There are only two motorcycles that I would categorize as true standards, basic designs that have endured from the late 50's. Triumph has updated their Bonneville line across the board with fuel-injection this year (Harley-Davidson did the same with it's Sportsters in 2007). The base Bonneville (top) now has cast wheels and is joined by a new SE model that harkens back to the style of the late 70's when I fell in love with the look of the Yamaha Specials that emulated them. The Sportster 883 Low is now the base model and is comparably priced to the Bonneville when similarly equipped (passenger pillion and foot pegs).
